Orientation

The first step in your Buckeye journey.

Orientation at The Ohio State University prepares all incoming students for a successful transition to campus.

Whether you are attending a two-day in-person session as a first-year student or a virtual session as an off-term or transfer student, Orientation helps you connect with academic advisors, complete class registration, and fulfill essential university requirements before classes begin.

During Orientation, you will:

Prepare for Academics

  • Meet with your academic advisor

  • Learn more about your major and degree requirements

  • Register for your first-semester classes

Complete Important University Requirements

  • Obtain your BuckID

  • Complete any required placement testing

  • Connect with staff who can answer questions about financial aid, billing and other university processes

Connect and Explore

  • Learn about student organizations and involvement opportunities

  • Explore campus resources and support services designed to help you succeed throughout your first year
