Designed for faculty and staff, the annual Focusing on the First Year Conference provides a forum for sharing strategies and best practices related to supporting the success and transition of first-year students at Ohio State.
The conference serves as a professional development opportunity, ensuring that the university's faculty and staff are equipped with the latest information and most effective methodologies to guide and empower our newest students.

The Focusing on the First Year Conference is as strong as our partners across the university – because those partners are both the audience and the experts!
We encourage you to submit a proposal for a one-hour session presentation! The deadline to submit is November 9, 2026.
FYE Outstanding First Year Advocate Award
During the Focusing on the First Year Conference, FYE awards its Outstanding First-Year Advocate Award. The award recognizes individuals who show extraordinary commitment to guiding new students through a successful first-year experience.
