And welcome to FYE News for Families!

Throughout your student's first year at The Ohio State University, we'll use this newsletter to keep in touch and share important information. We haven't forgotten that this is a transition for you, too!

Info sessions for students and families

Explore live and recorded information sessions and other resources to learn how Ohio State can help your family make the most of your student's first year as a Buckeye.

Tuition and fees

Your student can find a list of charges for tuition, fees and everything else in their statement of account.

Statements of account are generally available four weeks before a semester begins. Your student can access them through their My Buckeye Link page, and they can download a PDF to share with you.

Remember: Your student is the owner of their Ohio State account and must authorize permission ahead of time, by completing a Student Information Release, before Ohio State can communicate with you regarding any financial account matters.

The deadline to pay tuition and fees for autumn 2026 is Tuesday, August 18.

Housing assignments and move-in

The on-campus living experience is an excellent way to foster friendships and connections at Ohio State. Full-time professional staff and resident advisors reside in each complex, offering leadership and assistance to students as they adjust to being a Buckeye.

Incoming first-year students planning to live on-campus will receive an email in their Ohio State email account with their housing and roommate assignments towards the middle to the end of July. Move-In typically begins in mid-August.

What to pack

Autumn course adjustments

If, after registering for classes, your student wishes to adjust their autumn semester schedule, they'll be able to do so beginning Saturday, August 1. (An example reason for a change could be late-arriving transcripts or AP or IB scores that could change which courses a student needs to take.)

Your student should contact their academic advisor to discuss their options and request adjustments to their autumn semester schedule.

Buckeye Alerts

Ohio State's Department of Public Safety shares safety updates and important information with the campus community in a variety of ways, including through the Buckeye Alert System.

If your student has listed their mobile number in the "Personal Information" section of their My Buckeye Link page, they'll be automatically registered to receive text messages as part of this system. They can also register up to two additional mobile numbers (such as yours) to receive text notifications, too.
