About FYE

At Ohio State, we place special emphasis on a student’s first year.

We're here to support you

Starting college is a big transition. First Year Experience (FYE) helps you find your people, navigate campus, and feel at home at The Ohio State University. Our programs, resources and FYE Peer Leaders are here to support you from orientation through the end of your first year.

How FYE supports you

FYE Peer Leaders

FYE Peer Leaders are trained students who support new Buckeyes beginning with orientation and throughout the first semester. They help you get comfortable on campus, answer questions and connect you with people and resources that can help during your transition to college.

First Year Success Series

The First Year Success Series offers 45–75-minute workshops, both in-person and online, that help you make the most of your first year. Sessions are designed to answer common questions and connect you with important campus resources.

Helpful resources and FAQs

Our resources guide and FAQs provide quick answers on academics, involvement, wellness, campus life and more – specifically for first-year students.

What to expect during your first year

You’ll meet FYE even before classes begin – during orientation, summer communications and early-semester programming. Throughout your first year, we stay connected through FYE Peer Leader outreach, Success Series sessions and resources that help you build confidence and momentum at Ohio State.
