The First Year Leadership Collaborative is a four-day leadership development conference for 80 first-year emerging leaders. Participants explore leadership by engaging with current students, staff members and distinguished leaders in the Ohio State and Columbus communities. Participants in the First Year Leadership Collaborative are equipped to make an immediate impact as peer leaders in the first-year class. The cost of the conference includes all conference materials and activities, lodging at a suite-style hotel for the duration of the conference, all meals for the week, a conference t-shirt, and trips from the conference site to Ohio State’s campus and various locations in Columbus during the week. Conference accommodations provided at the Embassy Suites Columbus-Dublin.

Live, learn, and lead right in your residential community! R-LEAD is a leadership-based early-arrival program for incoming first-year students who will be living on campus. Through the program first-year students with a desire to develop their leadership skills are introduced to the numerous involvement opportunities provided by the Department of Residence Life. This early arrival program targets personal growth and development of each participant through dialogue and structured activities. Students selected to participate in R-LEAD will be automatically be registered for the OWL program and participate in early move-in.

Buckeye Service Connection
The Buckeye Service Connection provides an opportunity for first-year commuter students to connect with the Ohio State and Columbus communities through hands-on service. Participants will build upon their familiarity with Columbus by volunteering at various nonprofit agencies across the city and through informal excursions and on-campus activities. Participants will have an opportunity to network with current student leaders and student organizations, and connect with campus and community resources for future involvement. The cost of the program includes transportation and meals during program activities.
