First Year Success Series Registration Instructions Transcript This video demonstrates the process for selecting and registering for a First Year Success Series session. You can choose to register for as many sessions as you wish, especially if they will help contribute to your success in your first semester at Ohio State, but you may have to choose a minimum number or a specific transition tag as required by your survey instructor, so be sure to follow those guidelines. To begin, you're going to navigate to the success series home page at go.osu.edu/FYSS. From here you're going to then select the find a session at the bottom of the page. Note that you may be prompted to log in with your university username and password. From here you're then going to choose the register/search button at the bottom of the page. You're able to search for sessions now. To see all that are available you need to make sure that the “View Available Sessions Only” check box is marked and click on “Search.” Now you are able to see what is offered at this moment in time, and you're able to click down and learn more information about each of those from this red arrow (next to each title). You should see a description, what campus it is on, how it's presented, and the time offerings that are available for that session. You're also able to search for specific things that you might be interested in. If you know the title of the session you're looking for you can go ahead and type it in the Session search engine text box; otherwise, you're able to filter by tag, student audience, delivery method, the date, or the time that it starts. For the purpose of this video, I'm going to click the “Discover yourself” tag and click on the search button. The page will refresh and show you specific sessions that fit into that tag. So you'll see down here these two sessions are now available for me. I want to register for this example session because the time works for my schedule so I'm going to go ahead and click the register button. This will bring up a dialogue box with two questions you're required to answer before you can finish your registration. First we're going to ask you to provide us a sentence or two about what you hope to get out of the sessions that you have selected. It might be a skill you want to enhance, a resource you want to learn more about, or an opportunity to connect with other students or staff, or something else entirely. For me I hope to learn more about finding resources. After that you will also need to know the primary reason for you selecting this session. You're able to read through the choices in the drop-down menu and choose the one that sounds most like your motivation. So for me, it worked well with my schedule like I said. Once you have completed the elements of this page you're going to go ahead and click the “Finish registration” button. You'll know you were successful because this page will indicate the number of sessions that you have registered in the upper right-hand corner. You'll also receive a confirmation email sent to your university email account with a summary of the sessions of which you have registered. You can continue to register for additional sessions at this page, or you can exit this page by closing your browser. If you need to update or cancel your registration, you're going to return to go.osu.edu/FYSS and choose then choose that update or cancel button. This is also where you'll go to complete your online reflection after you attend the session.
