The Ohio State University invites you to join us in honoring an extraordinary Ohioan on the 50th anniversary of his historic orbital flight. Undergraduate Admissions and First Year Experience is coordinating two events to help students learn more about the history of John Glenn's service and career and the future of space exploration. Find out more about other John Glenn celebration events here. The Future of Space Exploration: A faculty panel
Space travel today is very different than it was 50 years ago when John Glenn first orbited Earth. In the 1960s, space travel was frequent and always made national news, and Neil Armstrong's walk on the moon was a historic point of national pride. Since then, space travel has seen a decrease in public interest and government funding. Join us for a panel discussion featuring distinguished Ohio State faculty who will discuss the state of space travel today and what's next for the future of space exploration. Saturday, February 18, 8:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. Join other Ohio State students for a tour of the NASA Glenn Research Center in Cleveland, OH. Meet astronaut Greg Johnson, view the Zero Gravity pit, tour the Green Lab, and learn about Ohio's historical ties to the space program. The Glenn Research Center, named in honor of former senator John Glenn, the Ohioan who was the first American to orbit Earth in 1962, designs game-changing technology for spaceflight that enables further exploration of the universe and inspires the next generation of explorers. Note: The Glenn Research Center is only open to US Citizens or persons with legal permanent residency. Government issued photo ID required for the tour. |
