Changing Success Series choices after you register
If you wish to change your Success Series selections, you should go to the Success Series web page and click on "Change Event Registration." You'll provide information to find your original series schedule, then you will be able to switch your selections and print out a new confirmation page.
Confirmation letter
After you make your Success Series selections, you should print out the confirmation letter and take it with you to the event. Only students with printed confirmation letters who arrive 10 minutes prior to the start of the session will be guaranteed admittance to the session. Students without a confirmation letter will not be allowed to enter the classroom/auditorium until five minutes before the event, and only at the discretion of the presenter.
Students may reprint their confirmation letter by going to the Success Series web page and clicking on: "Reprint Confirmation Page."
Space is limited. Register in advance!
Success Series events fill up quickly. As a result, the sooner you register, the better chance you have of being able to attend your first-choice sessions. Once a session has reached full capacity, the web site will clearly state that this event is full. The online registration system will not let anyone register for a full event.
What if there are changes to the schedule?
Changes are likely to occur with the Success Series schedule, so students should check the web site often for the most up-to-date information. If there are any changes to presentation specifics, all registered students for that session should receive communication from First Year Experience via the student e-mail supplied during the registration process.
How many sessions do I have to go to?
The session requirements are determined by your survey course instructor and vary among disciplines and academic areas. The registration and attendance at sessions plays into your course grade, and because many sessions have limited seating, you are advised not to procrastinate on registering. (First-year students may register for sessions regardless of whether or not they are receiving credit—as long as they register, they can attend!)
How many sessions can I attend?
There is no limit on how many sessions you can attend—the more information, the better! Even if you have fulfilled your instructor's requirements, you can still sign up for additional presentations throughout the year. However, you should only sign up for sessions you will attend. Please be aware that while all of the sessions might be of personal interest, there are thousands of other students who also need to register and that space is often limited.
Is it okay if I have to come late or leave early?
It is not okay to come to a presentation late or to leave early. Please arrive 10 minutes early to the event and plan on staying at least 50 minutes (unless otherwise noted in the presentation description). If you cannot make the commitment to arrive early and stay for the appropriate length of time, please find a more appropriate session to attend.
Are certain sessions ever repeated?
Interest in registering for every Success Series session is monitored. If there is a greater interest than space allows and if the presenter is available, additional sessions may be offered. Unfortunately, some popular sessions are not possible to repeat due to scheduling conflicts, previous engagements, and time constraints of facilities and presenters. Again, early registration is encouraged to ensure that you have the opportunity to participate in your top event choices.
Who are Success Series presenters?
Past presenters have included faculty, staff, community members, and other prestigious visitors who are knowledgeable in the area of discussion.
Why are some of the presentations highlighted in gray?
The sessions highlighted in gray on the online registration form are those presentations highly recommended for transfer and/or campus-change students to Ohio State. All first-year students are still welcome to attend and participate in these sessions.
